ScanCodeGenerator ("we," "us," or "our") operates scancodegenerator.com. This page explains what information the site handles and how.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect names, email addresses or payment details as a condition of using any tool on this site.

Barcode and QR content is never collected. The value you type into a generator is encoded entirely inside your own browser. It is not transmitted to this site, not stored, and not logged. If you encode an internal SKU, a customer reference or a Wi-Fi password, that data never leaves your device.

If you send a message through our contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you supply, so that we can reply.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which typically record IP address, browser type and pages requested. These are used for security and troubleshooting.

How we use this information

Contact form submissions are used only to respond to you. Server logs are used to keep the site running and secure. This site is supported by advertising and may in future carry ads served by third-party networks, which use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads.

Analytics

We use Umami to see which pages get used, running on our own infrastructure rather than a third-party analytics service. Your browsing data is not shared with or sold to anyone.

Umami is cookieless. It sets no cookies and no local storage identifiers, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across websites. IP addresses are used to derive a country and are not stored. It records page views and referrers, not individual people, and there is no session recording.

Because no cookies are set and no personal data is collected, this analytics does not require a consent banner. If we ever add a tool that does, this page will be updated and a banner will appear before it goes live.

Requests to those services expose your IP address to them in the ordinary course of loading a page. No advertising network is running on this site at the time of the last update above. If one is added, this page will be updated to name it before it goes live.

Cookies and consent

At the time of the last update above, this site sets no cookies of its own. There is no advertising network running, no affiliate tracking, and the analytics tool is cookieless by design. Nothing here stores an identifier on your device to recognise you later.

Even so, a consent banner is in place. We use Consently, a consent management platform, to handle cookie consent and to keep a record of the choices people make. It runs on every page and gives you control before any non-essential cookie can be set. It is there ahead of need rather than after the fact, so that if advertising or another cookie-setting service is added later, consent is already being collected and honoured rather than being bolted on afterwards.

Consently stores your consent choice on your device so it does not have to ask again on every page. That is the one piece of storage this site uses, and it exists purely to remember your answer. You can change your choice at any time through the banner's preferences control.

How long we keep information

Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted. Analytics records are aggregated counts of page views rather than records about individuals, and are kept while they remain useful for understanding which pages get used. Server logs are kept on our host's standard schedule for security and troubleshooting.

Where information goes

The analytics server is ours and sits on our own infrastructure, so analytics data is not passed to a third-party analytics company. Loading Google Fonts and the cdnjs library CDN sends your IP address to those providers as part of the ordinary request for those files, which may involve servers outside your own country. That is the extent of any international transfer.

Your rights in California

If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information is collected and why, to request a copy of it, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

We do not sell or share personal information, in the ordinary sense or in the broader statutory sense that includes sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on this site because there is nothing being sold or shared to opt out of. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser, though in practice they trigger nothing here, since no such sharing takes place.

The only category of personal information we hold is what you type into the contact form: your name, email address and message. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact page.

Your rights in the EU and UK

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it is processed, and to data portability. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Our lawful basis is straightforward. Contact form submissions are processed on the basis of your consent, given when you choose to send the message. Server logs and aggregate analytics are processed on the basis of legitimate interest, specifically keeping the site secure and understanding which pages are worth maintaining, weighed against the fact that neither identifies you.

Requests can be made through the contact page. We will not charge you for making one.

Your choices

You can browse and use every tool on this site without submitting any personal information. You do not have to use the contact form; it is the only place the site asks for anything about you. Since no cookies are set, there are no cookie preferences to manage, though you can still block or delete cookies through your browser settings as you would on any site.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
