Use of the tools

The generators on this site are free to use. No account is required and there is no paid tier.

Barcodes and QR codes you generate here are yours. You may use them for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, in physical products, packaging, labels, documents and software. No attribution is required, no licence fee applies, and there is no expiry or condition attached to the output. We claim no rights over codes you create.

This licence covers the generated image only. It does not grant you rights over any number, trademark or identifier you encode, and it does not register anything on your behalf.

What this site cannot do for you

This site draws barcode images. It does not issue GS1-registered GTINs, UPC or EAN numbers. A barcode generated here from a number you supplied will scan, but that does not make the number registered to you. Retailers and marketplaces verify registration separately. Use at your own risk

You use this site, and everything you generate on it, at your own risk.

You are responsible for verifying that any code you generate is correct, correctly sized, and scannable in your own environment before you print it, publish it, or apply it at scale. That means test scanning a printed sample with the scanner that will actually be used, on the material it will actually be printed on. The validation built into these tools checks a code against the published specification. It cannot check your printer, your label stock, your artwork, or your scanner, and it is not a substitute for testing.

No warranty

The tools and information here are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.

We aim for accuracy against the published specifications and check figures against primary sources, but we do not warrant that any generated code will scan correctly in every printing process, on every substrate, or with every scanner, that the site will be available or error free, or that any information here is complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScanCodeGenerator and Ready Utilities are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or economic loss arising from your use of this site or anything generated on it. That includes, without limitation, lost sales or profits, delayed or rejected shipments, rejected product listings, reprinted packaging or labels, wasted label stock, and the cost of any production run.

Because these tools are provided free of charge and you pay us nothing, our total liability to you for any claim connected with this site is limited to zero.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your statutory rights.

Affiliate and advertising disclosure

This site may contain affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy something after following one, at no additional cost to you. This site may also display advertising served by third-party ad networks. Advertising and affiliate relationships never determine what the tools do, what the guidance says, or which specification figures are published. Where a page carries affiliate links, a disclosure appears at or before the first such link.

Intellectual property

The site design, written content and page code are owned by Ready Utilities unless otherwise credited. Barcode encoding is performed by the bwip-js library, which is MIT licensed and credited on the pages that use it. Barcode symbology standards are the property of their respective standards bodies, and this site is not affiliated with or endorsed by GS1.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Not enforcing a term on one occasion is not a waiver of it.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the site changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
